It forms dense clusters of tiny, rounded stems, each covered in silvery-white, comb-like spines, creating a striking, metallic appearance. In spring, it produces large, vivid orange to orange-red flowers that emerge from the base of the plant, appearing oversized relative to its small stature—a true gem for collectors, prized for both its texture and bloom performance.
