Carnegie gigantea (Saguaro) – Iconic Symbol of the American Southwest

Carnegiea gigantea, the iconic Saguaro cactus, is a legendary columnar cactus native to the Sonoran Desert. Known for its towering form and slow, deliberate growth, the saguaro symbolizes the American Southwest. Its pleated green trunk expands to store water, while sharp spines provide protection and shade. In late spring, mature plants produce large, waxy white flowers—Arizona’s state flower—followed by red, seed-filled fruits that support desert wildlife. Exceptionally long-lived, saguaros can survive for well over a century, making them true living monuments.
We recommend planting this in our Cactus/Succulent Soil.
